Generic Lipitor (Atorvastatin, Lipitor® equivalent)
Lipitor is a prescription medication used along with an overall diet plan in order to lower the patient's level of cholesterol and reduce the risk of heart attack. It has been proven to help reduce patients' LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels significantly, as well as help in maintaining the low levels in the long term. Lipitor belongs to a class of medications known as statins, which work by blocking an enzyme in the liver that is used in the production of LDL ("bad") cholesterol. The body then produces less LDL, and the level of LDL cholesterol in the blood decreases.

PREVENTING OBESITY: FOOD ADVERTISING TO CHILDREN
There are campaigns in many countries to legislate against the advertising of high-fat, high-sugar foods to children. The UK campaign group, Sustain, estimates that more than 80% of advertising during children's peak TV viewing hours is for high-fat, high-sugar foods.
Although food advertising would seem to contribute to the increased trend towards consumption of such foods by children, there is little evidence to prove the point and any attempts to legislate against such advertising are likely to run into stiff resistance. There is little governmental will to seek change and the food manufacturing industry is a very powerful lobby in the UK, and far more so in the US.
However, some changes have been brought about through appropriate campaigns. For example, many UK supermarkets no longer stock children's sweets at the check-out, accepting that this applies undue pressure on parents to purchase. In Sweden, advertising to children under age 12 was banned completely in an effort to reduce the potential for the food industry, among others, to exploit easily influenced young minds. Such radical controlling measures almost certainly make a positive contribution to the campaign to reduce the ability of the commercial world to make even more money on the back of our children's health. However, in the opinion of the author, we would be better to exert our influence upon the food industry in a spirit of constructive cooperation, seeking to work with, rather than against it, to develop healthier choices, better provision of affordable fruit and vegetables and low-fat, low-sugar foods in small corner shops as well as in larger retailers.
